We Help Explain Your COP and Schedule Award Options

Understanding OWCP Benefits Isn’t Easy — We’re Here to Break It Down

If you’re a federal employee recovering from a work-related injury, you may have heard terms like Continuation of Pay (COP) and Schedule Award thrown around—but what do they actually mean? More importantly, how do you know if you’re eligible?

At Rebound Clinics DMV, we specialize in helping injured federal workers across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. understand their full range of OWCP benefits. That includes making sure you don’t miss out on COP for immediate support or a Schedule Award for long-term compensation.

We believe that injured workers deserve more than just treatment—they deserve clarity and confidence about their claim and their future.

What Is Continuation of Pay (COP)?

Continuation of Pay (COP) allows you to receive your full salary for up to 45 calendar days while you recover from a traumatic injury—without using your sick or annual leave.

To qualify:

  • You must file Form CA-1 within 30 days of the injury.
  • Your injury must be job-related and approved under OWCP.
  • You must provide medical evidence of your inability to work within 10 workdays of the claim.
  • You must follow medical guidance and attend all related appointments.

COP is only available for traumatic injuries—not occupational illnesses. We’ll help determine whether your situation qualifies and support you in filing the correct documents on time.

What Is a Schedule Award?

A Schedule Award is a separate OWCP benefit for federal workers who have a permanent impairment in a specific part of the body due to a work-related injury.

You may qualify for a Schedule Award if:

  • Your OWCP claim has been accepted.
  • You’ve completed treatment and reached Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI).
  • You have permanent, measurable loss of function in a covered body part.

Examples include:

  • Limited range of motion in a shoulder or knee
  • Loss of grip strength in a hand
  • Hearing or vision loss due to work-related exposure

The amount of the award depends on the body part affected, the severity of the impairment, and your federal compensation rate.

How Rebound Clinics DMV Helps You Understand (and Apply for) Both

Most federal employees aren’t given clear explanations about their OWCP options—and as a result, they may leave money and benefits on the table. Here’s how we help:

1. We Explain Your Eligibility

During your first visit, we review the details of your injury and guide you through which benefits apply to your case. Whether you’re filing a CA-1 or have already recovered and are wondering about a Schedule Award, we’ll explain your options in plain language.

2. We Provide OWCP-Compliant Documentation

Both COP and Schedule Award benefits rely on strong documentation. Our medical team:

  • Confirms whether your injury qualifies for COP
  • Prepares medical narratives, CA-17s, and CA-20s to support your time off
  • Conducts Impairment Rating Evaluations for Schedule Awards (based on AMA Guides, 6th Edition)
  • Submits everything on time via ECOMP, OWCP’s online portal

3. We Help You Navigate the Process

From the 30-day window for COP to the final steps of submitting your Schedule Award documentation, we provide reminders, clarification, and full support every step of the way.

Why These Benefits Matter

Both COP and Schedule Awards play a critical role in your financial recovery after a federal work injury.

  • COP gives you immediate income while waiting for claim approval.
  • Schedule Awards provide compensation for permanent loss—even if you’re back to work.

Without the right guidance, it’s easy to overlook these benefits or assume you’re not eligible.
