Timely Filing Is Important — Let Us Help You Stay On Track

Federal Injury Claims Have Deadlines — We Help You Meet Them

If you’re a federal employee who’s been injured at work, the last thing you want to deal with is paperwork. But the truth is, the Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP) has strict timelines—and missing a deadline could mean losing out on the care and compensation you deserve.

At Rebound Clinics DMV, we help injured federal workers across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. get the treatment they need and the support they deserve—without falling behind on filing. We guide you through every step of your OWCP claim, making sure you don’t miss critical forms, submission windows, or eligibility milestones.

Why Timeliness Matters in OWCP Claims

OWCP claims are governed by a federal system that relies on documentation, form completion, and timely submissions. The sooner you start—and the more informed you are—the stronger your claim will be.

Missing a deadline can result in:

  • Loss of Continuation of Pay (COP)
  • Denial of medical treatment authorization
  • Rejected or delayed claims
  • Missed opportunities for Schedule Awards
  • Additional stress and frustration during recovery

The good news? With the right support, it’s easier than you think to stay on track.

Key OWCP Deadlines to Remember

Here are some of the most important timelines that affect your claim:

1. Report Your Injury Immediately

As soon as the injury happens—or you realize it’s work-related—report it to your supervisor. Written notice helps create a paper trail and starts the process.

2. File Form CA-1 Within 30 Days

For traumatic injuries, you must file a CA-1 within 30 days to qualify for Continuation of Pay (COP). You still have up to 3 years to file the claim itself, but filing late can impact your benefits.

3. Request a CA-16 Within 7 Days

If you’ve had a sudden injury (CA-1), your agency should issue a CA-16 form to authorize medical care. This must be issued within 7 days of the injury to be valid.

4. Submit Medical Evidence Within 10 Workdays

If you’re requesting COP, you must provide medical documentation supporting your disability within 10 workdays of submitting your CA-1.

5. File for Reconsideration Within 12 Months

If your claim is denied, you have 12 months to request reconsideration with new medical evidence. We help strengthen your case and resubmit everything properly.

Already Missed a Deadline? We Can Still Help

Even if you’ve missed a filing date, not all is lost. In many cases:

  • COP can still be partially recovered with strong supporting evidence
  • Claim reconsiderations can be submitted with improved documentation
  • Occupational claims (CA-2) may qualify for delayed filing if symptoms appear later

We’ll review your case and help you identify what options are still available.
